666 is the new project from ELECTRONEG – the darkest, weirdest and most frightening collection of music ever committed to hard-drive. Think Goblin, the cover of Black Sabbath’s first album, Wendy Carlos, the Woman in Black, the Wicker Man soundtrack, György Ligeti, the Diabolus in Musica, Whitehouse, and our Lord and Master Aleister Crowley.
666 is an absorbing and unsettling collection of beats, soundscapes, noise, and instruments of horror and torture (although not the panpipes). It scared the hell out of us as we were compiling it.

Ffranconstein
Not on Electroneg, but part of the Electroneg family, is Geraint Ffrancon’s latest project Ffranconstein, which has seen the light of day after two years.
Originally intended as an attempt to collaborate with everyone in the world and build a musical monster out of the parts of other people (yeah right), Ffranconstein in its final form is a multi-headed beast that features a limited edition handmade CD (available exclusively to project subscribers and supporters), several other versions and interpretations all available for free download, a Ffranconstein user manual, and a collection of original sound sources and samples from which you can create your own monster.

Electroneg at Gwyl SWN Festival
Next Friday night 22nd October at the Cardiff Arts Institute we’re hosting our own night as part of Huw Stephens’ SWN festival. Playing live will be Quinoline Yellow (Skam), Dam Mantle and Plyci, with DJ sets from Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals/Acid Casuals) and our own malformed, stunted, hunchbacked Electroneg DJs.
The night starts at 7pm, and if you haven’t got/don’t want to get a Swn Festival wristband (and I recommend you do get one) it costs £4 on the door.
If you haven’t heard of SWN, it’s a really vibrant three day festival taking place in lots of different venues around Cardiff. It’s now in its fourth year and the highlights this year include Swans, Cate Le Bon, Islet, Attack+Defend, Zwolf, Victorian English Gentlemen’s Club, Threatmantics, Meic Stevens, Clinic, and Bryn Fon (sorry I couldn’t resist).
Electroneg 1000 Update
The fetchingly old fashioned Electroneg 1000 CD is now available from Sister Ray, Rough Trade East and Rough Trade West in London, Spillers in Cardiff, Diverse Records in Newport, Andy’s Records in Aberystwyth, Cob Records in Bangor, and Derricks in Swansea. Let’s hear it for proper record shops!
